In Twilight, the first book in Stephanie Meyer's series, A young girl named Bella Swan moves with her family from Phoenix, Arizona to Forks, Washington. Bella then finds herself blindly attracted to a mysterious, young boy named Edward Cullen. The mysterious Edward turns out to be a vampire who drinks only animal blood instead of human blood. Edward and Bella fall in love and then must fight off a clan of vampires who wish to drink Bella's blood. Bella escapes and runs back home to Phoenix, Arizona where she is then tricked into confronting James, a vicious vampire wishing to kill her. But before James gets his chance to kill Bella, Edward rescues her and they return to Forks, Washington.
In the second book, New Moon, Edward and his family leave Forks because he believes that he is endangering Bella's life. Bella goes into a depressed state after Edward leaves, but then develops a strong friendship with a werewolf, Jacob Black. Jacob and the other werewolves in his tribe rise up to protect Bella from Victoria, an evil vampire set on avenging her dead lover, James. In Edward's absence, he is accidentally led to believe that Bella is dead and he decides to commit suicide, but before he can Bella and Alice show up and stop him. They meet with the Volturi, a coven of vampires, and they are let go on the condition that Bella must be turned into a vampire in the near future.
In the third book, Eclipsed, Victoria has created a dark army to battle the Cullens and kill Bella. Bella also must choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob. Ultimately, Edwards family of vampires joins forces with Jacobs tribe of werewolves and they set out to destroy Victoria and her dark army. In the fourth book, Bella finally becomes a vampire and she and Edward have a daughter, Renesmee.
