Bartending is a great job for many people. It is a job that a lot of times allow you to utilize your people skills while learning to be more submissive to strangers than your significant other.
Working as a bartender can be an experience that is fulfilling socially as well as in the pockets. If you take on bartending as a side job, you can come home with a lot of extra money. Tips are tax free and usually are given by the drink or by the tab. Either way, by the time your shift is over with, your pockets can be overflowing with bills of all amounts.
Learning how to bartend is as simple as taking a course at a bartending school. The courses include a mixology course, which tells you which liquors can be mixed together, and what juices are mixed along with them. It also teaches you about the correct utensils, bar set-up, preparation, opening and closing procedures, and garnishing preparations. Another course is the cocktail course, which is designed for those already in the hospitality business (waiters, cocktail servers, and catering staff), and includes all the drink recipes in the school's cities trendiest bars. At the end of these courses, the school usually will help you with job placement.
Bartending can be a worthwhile experience. You never know who you will meet while on the job and how much they may tip you. In other words, keep your choices open, because, when the holiday’s come around, working at a good bar can take you places.
