The Twilight Book Series

The Twilight series is written by Stephenie Meyer. Meyer originally wanted to call the series Fork, but no one in the publishing industry liked the title. Until she started writing Twilight, which is the name of the first book of the series, she had played around writing a few chapters for other books but never got any further along. The book began after she suddenly woke up one morning after dreaming. In it, there were two people in the meadow talking. One was a young girl who was about seventeen years old, and the other was a very handsome male vampire.

The couple was coming to realize they had very deep feelings for each other. The idea was so intensely interesting to Stephenie that she decided she couldn’t let the idea pass her by. She tried to do some work on it daily. Unlike most authors, who take years to get a book published, her book was published within six months. Twilight is over 500 pages long.

The Twilight books have become almost as popular among preteens and teens as the Harry Potter series. The best part about each subsequent book is that it originates from the original book, Twilight. Teenagers seem to enjoy it because it is an ongoing love story. Many middle school teachers are glad to find something that encourages kids to read. The more any child reads, the better they get at it.

Other books available in the Twilight book series are New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. This December, a movie based on the first book will be released into theaters.
