Jay Busse (idiot savant) writes words, gives opinions and looks forward to your opinions. I am not a journalist, which puts me ahead of many the blabbering, self-inflating bobbleheads spewing "news" at us on TV. Because I actually realize I'm not a journalist. Suicidal Utopia: For peeple that rede gud.

How the Media Can Control Our Lives or how to take a moving story and make it static - I didn't write it

The media has a way of trapping their audience with their catchy phrases and titles. Whether it is bad or good, the effect that it has on our lives is tremendous.

When the media releases any information to the public, they do not consider what the outcome of that news will be. The media does only what they feel is necessary, and that is to let the people know what they think we want to hear. Sometimes, this can be a bad thing. For instance, if the media lets us know that there have been reports of bad chicken reported in the market, we will take note of it and eliminate chicken from our grocery list. Also, we will try to make it a point to avoid it at our favorite fast food places. The only time we see chicken in our future again is when the media lets us know that everything is safe again.

The media may tell us that there is a sexual offender living in the area around our public schools. A few days later, they tell us that the offender was attacked and murdered. But the story was not about the offender taking another victim, but of the offender's proximity to the public school. The media does not consider that there are actually people out there that take sexual abuse very seriously and may be moved to do something about it, even if the person did nothing wrong in the first story.

These adjustments to certain facts in our community tend to be harder than some others. The way the media feeds us information, it is really hard to ignore what everyone else around us believes. The media plays a serious role in our lives, and often controls what we think and how we live our lives.
