Jay Busse (idiot savant) writes words, gives opinions and looks forward to your opinions. I am not a journalist, which puts me ahead of many the blabbering, self-inflating bobbleheads spewing "news" at us on TV. Because I actually realize I'm not a journalist. Suicidal Utopia: For peeple that rede gud.

The Dark Clouds of Cynicism

It appears as though the author may have read my writing. The cure for cynicism evidently is quite simple. Ignore all that is bad and find some good, put blinders on and shut-up.

I haven't been to Japan, but I have experienced much that is good and bad.

The bad does not go away just because it is ignored, like-wise ignoring the good is not what I do.

I keep hoping for more good... it's like telling me there's a lot of good on planet 9x^ and telling me to go there and somehow things will get better here.

I'll pass and do my little nothing here.

Not all is lost indeed.

I choose to exercise my futility here in our reality.

Have you ever had a day when you felt like you were constantly under some dark cloud? You might have just had one of "those days" when nothing goes right. However, some people live with a constant feeling of gloominess. There is a reason for that gloominess and it's called cynicism.

Cynicism carries with it more than gloominess, as there are also some physical issues to consider. Cynics often suffer from heart disease, burnout and just general feelings of pessimism and negativity about life. If you have heart problems, you need to look at you attitude and the stress in your life to see how much of those physical problems really come from your outlook on life.

People can do a lot to change what's going on in their lives by simply doing some introspection. But cynicism won't allow a person to even work at change because it's seen as a waste of time. The very idea of letting someone else help doesn't work either. A person must trust others if they are going to help and a cynic just doesn't have it in him or her to trust anyone.

Not all is lost however. There actually is hope for the cynic and a cure for cynicism. If you can afford it, try traveling to Japan where traditional values such as honesty prevail. You may find hope. For example, Japan is the best place to lose something of value, like a wallet or camera. The lost and found areas of Japan's airports are full of unclaimed items like those just mentioned.

In the midst of a negative world filled with gloominess, the light of honesty found in Japan and other places brings hope. But the cure for cynicism comes from within the cynic himself. Thinking outside the box of common cures is required and is the real key to overcoming cynicism.
