My guess for the reasons this didn't go blockbuster are: Gary Oldman's bad guy is just not that bad and maybe we boycotted because this is French. Anyway, the special effects are freat, the colors are vibrant, yet dirty. The world is overpopulated, more so than now. The fifth element does arrive, but will it get to the right place to save us?
