Dr. Shivago isn't exactly extraordinary, but once again the hero lives in extraordinary times: The Russian Revolution. In the turmoil Shivago tries to keep his head low. However, he finds himself in the midst the red vs white struggle. His heart's in turmoil as well, he's got a wife and then there's Julie Christie. Sadly, his hearts desires go mostly unfulfilled, due to missed opportunities, his sense of duty, her sense of duty and the tumultuous times they live in, which seems to bring them oh so close, only to force them apart yet again. It's a big brooding love story with a fantastic score and few Oscars as pedigree. In Dr. Shivago the length of the movie fits for Lean. Not every long movie is great. Lean is the master. buy unique gifts at Zazzle |
