Credit Card Crisis is Coming

I was already a frustrated American, I've now upgraded myself to irritated.

I thought about jumping on a bandwagon, but there are plenty of angry people already on bandwagons. I must be growing more hard of heart. Since I'm moving more and more towards the "let them fail" ideology.

It appears as though they're (banks, wall street, etc.) not only going take all my money as they imitate the Titanic, they're going to do an assisted suicide on my credit as well.

So I thought I'd jump on my own credit card band wagon, before it pulls into the bailout bonanza: Banks and credit cards, the credit card crisis and the death toll.

Call it what you want.

I just received a notice from Chase (one of the banks from hell) that my rate was going up a tad: 20% plus prime for normal purchases (25%) from 14% to 18% to 25% (Chase: the leader in high interest rates to their paying customers and people that bail them out).

I must state that I am not late or delinquent or over my balance limit. My credit score was 740... it won't be at 25% APR.

They may have the right to do this, but they have ruined my trust. If it already wasn't ruined by watching the news of their gluttony and incompetence.

So, we the people, bail Chase out and they buy a bank (WAMU) that gave good service (to Chase the word "service" is always preceded by the word "bad" ) and send me the notice I've attached to this message.

If it is legal, it shouldn't be. Chase made big bucks, then lost big bucks.

And here's the reason they decided to raise my rate to 25% (attached):

"The principal factor we considered in amending your account is maintaining profitability on your account."

"Um, OK, You gonna make me pay the vig for your incompetence? I just gave you a few billion."

I would not sign-up for 25% APR ever. The reason I used the account was because I love Amazon (it's their card) and they offered me 3.99%.

Now I have a balance and an interest rate of 25% starting April 1st.

They also bought WAMU, which holds 2 more of my credit cards, if those go to 25%, I'll be walking away from the debt.

25% leaves me no choice. Chase's "profitability" will take another hit when we all tell them we're not paying 25%.

I thought about calling Chase, but that would only frustrate me and exercise futility.

Futility is the one healthy thing we got in this crap economy.

So I wrote you (these letters will be going to news shows and congressmen), because you have the resources to investigate and expose this, prior to it being the next d-bag-orama. Which I/we have to pay-for/bailout.

I assumed a certain unspoken relationship with banks (fiduciary): not to screw the people that feed/pay you...

I was, alas, screwed (and not in a good way and 25% is the sandpaper, it hurts).

To quote a great American, "You're despicable" (Mr. Daffy Duck, newly appointed head of my financial advisers).

Ask not for whom the card tolls, it tolls for thee...
