From my first inkling, this did not make me happy or gushing. I was appalled. Our world is not that nice, yet her children are here, so I feel compelled to help them. But I would like to help the children monetarily and not the mother, I see she's now got a website: nadya suleman family website... if we were to put her on a pedestal what would the next woman do to get money? Have 16 or 20 kids without any means to support them? Although their mother should seek or be offered mental therapy/help. I’m not gonna get all green on ya’: I’m just going to say I’ve not run across an environmental issue that isn’t our fault. We continue to breed at an alarming rate, we disregard the shit we’re leaving our kids in. “Oh, well, we talk about it”. Oprah needs to send a message about over-breeding the planet. We've got 7 billion "miracles" alive today. Some of these miracles are mass murderers, pedophiles, psycho dictators... Hitler was once a "miracle". I see plenty of evidence that we may have to consider we're not miracles. Sure, times have been tough before. What we’re doing is stretching our technology and monetary system to its limits. History tells us we are dumb, the plague is a perfect example: It kept happening for hundreds of years, until we made enough food and the climate changed. (until our technology caught-up). That said, we do not use our brains when it comes to procreating. China is the perfect example: they have limits on breeding. They used to eat their own children. They’d trade their dead children in the streets for other dead children, because who could eat their own child (I puked a bit retelling that)? So, since we can’t seem use the brains we have and just sit here whining, what do we do? I’m appalled by people over-breeding and giving tax breaks to over-breed (I see 16 kids on TV I’m sickened). You think second-hand smoke kills? Overpopulation, ignorance, selfishness and synapse-free breeding will kill us all. Why am I not worried about a salamander? Because some person with 16 kids is mistakenly worried about a salamander. Al Gore speaks of the carbon footprint: Too many people encroaching on habitats. Too many people using the world’s finite resources. Celebrating this woman’s selfish birth of 8 (into a world of unemployment and shoddy care) would be to celebrate our own demise (which makes it 14 children I’m going to support). As a doctor with a cure for cancer would be adding to our overpopulation and finite natural resource abuse. Thus: curing cancer would speed along the end of human life on Earth, by giving too much life. We are at a crossroads, and I’m cutting us some slack (we were taught this in the 70’s). We’re responsible for Global Warming and all environmental problems (WE: being us here right now and those that have gone before). We, as “the not greatest generation”, need to focus on the future.
