A Quick Thought About Writing

I was chatting with a friend about music and what it takes to make it.
I realize I’ve given this a lot of thought, it's just been about the writing business.
First, you may not make it. So I write for me.
But a little more deeply into it: Would you rather read a great story by a mediocre writer or great writing with a mediocre story?
Given, we’d like both. But I’ll take the great story, just as I would the great song by passable musicians over the mediocre song by great musicians.
Which was what we were discussing.
But I’d like both.
