It Takes a Good Prick to Give it a Whack
Screenwriting is a tough business. Anything to do with movies is tough, since there is money to be made.
Money is the goal of many. It shows in the writing.
But what's a guy that just writes to do? I wasn't born into it and barely know people in the business? Certainly nobody in the business owes me a favor.
Well, as I've been told over and over "you need an agent".
Yup, no doubt about it...how do I get one? "I don't know, but you need one."
I've known this for years, but I also need a producer and director and actors.
I don't have any of those either.
The agent thing, that is something I need. Someone to be the prick, the driving force behind the heat. The heat they're supposed to create.
Alas, this is a conundrum, an everlasting gobstopper of confusion and an amorphous grasp at the rope of sand.
If you have one you can get the others, but without one you have nothing.
Your work matters not... it is read by no one. It may as well be the simplistic beauty of the blank page.
Unfortunately for me, I believe the work stands on its own merits. The writer matters little.
But that would be true of anyone with no "in's" or relatives to help him.
This may be envy and bubbling anger... not sure.
Just musing... hey, am I green?
I think I'm green.
