I posted the first ten pages of one of my screenplays, which are my children.
Tomorrow I may hate it.
It's over in the category cloud...

My studies lead me to believe the best marketers are writing in Hollywood, not the best writers.
This is just my opinion.
I use both the best screenwriting contest: Nicholl's and the grand daddy of Poker Championships.
Both share the simple draw: Anyone can win the big money prize.
That said, I would not want to make my living facing the best poker players.
But in the pool for The World Poker Championship (that's grown 800%) someone will win. The pros or people that put in the time are not favored, the recent winners are relative amateurs. I doubt they'd survive playing the pros head-on.
Same with us writers. We can practice and take our craft seriously. Finding our voice hitting our stride... it's still a crap shoot.
But everyone has seen millions being paid out. Most people just want the money, not the time it takes to get your voice or re-write.
It's all about the money. Nicholl's Screenwriting Fellowship went from 600 to 6000 entries in a few years.
I've been called a purist with negative connotation. I guess that's true.
I write because I have to. I write because I love/hate it.
I also try to make what I write enjoyable.
I just figure money will follow... I know it's a long-shot.
I chose poorly.
