Prop 8 Disregards Equal Rights/ I'm Appalled By the State I Live In/California Unenlightenment
This will be a short rant.
Since it all seemed so clear to me. Equal rights are equal rights for all.
The definition of minority means that they deserve protection from the majority.
The court found away around this and voted that they couldn't overturn the vote on a state constitutional amendment.
I'm
very disappointed in this state and the people that voted for prop 8.
Many of whom are minorities themselves, voting to take rights from a
minority.
Further, separation of church and state was abused,
violated. Since the money to back prop 8 came from the mormon and
catholic churches, disrespectfully. Tolerance as long as you're like us,
oh, and we demand you tolerate us too.
Good going... do unto others as you would have done unto you?
I'm sure there will be more eloquent posts.
I just wanted to commend a step backwards by a state claiming to be progressive.
I'm disgusted.
Update: It has been brought to my attention the California Supreme Court may have set this up for the U.S. Supreme Court.
By
upholding the 18000 marriages unanimously and following the state
constitution and upholding prop 8 they have created inequality of class
within the class.
It was suggested this was disguised
brilliance. That it sets up a day of reckoning in the United States
Supreme Court, which can overturn the people's vote on prop 8 and
defend the minority.
A power the CA Supreme Court did not have.
I hope they're right.

was so sure, so hopeful, that the courts would defeat prop 8 and
restore my faith in humanity (a little) I sat in shock checking
different channels and surfing the web to see if this was a hoax.
Alas, it is a hoax, perpetrated by those that would have us believe that some are more equal than others.
And some people wonder about the name of my blog...suicidal utopia.
My thoughts on religion are on
record here. So it will come as no surprise I blame religion for the
outcome of the election as well as keeping the masses in the dark so
they can manipulate them for other nefarious self-serving needs.
The
Bible is a good and hefty book and should be used for good purposes.
Bitch slapping the zombies from their collective stupor would be a good
use.
